Our Story

Our Story

Rainbow Bridge or “RB”, was the initiative of a former International Medical University founder and academic staff, Professor Ong Kok Hai, as a multi-ethnic, non-political and non-religious charitable organisation that links diverse communities with individuals or organizations that are able to donate, assist or service those needs in a multitude of ways.

Our Philosophy

Our Philosophy

The modus operandi, was to “bridge” communities that have particular needs, with those (individuals or organizations) that can provide or support such needs. A key component in realising this vision is being able to bring together people or groups to facilitate the connection or assume the role of providers by meeting the needs.

Our Involvement

Our Involvement

We believe that there are numerous individuals from all walks of life, across the ethnic and vintage spectrum who want to be involved or participate actively in some social or community activity, but are not sure how.  Rainbow Bridge constitutes such a “platform” for involvement. Similarly, there may be many companies and organizations that are keen on CSR; Rainbow Bridge provides “platforms” for such involvement.

Founder’s Message

We bid goodbye to 2023, a very successful year for us in Rainbow Bridge with major milestones achieved. Last year, we launched the Gift of Sight (GoS) project in partnership with the Malaysian Society of Ophthalmology (MSO) and the Association of Malaysian Optometrists (AMO).  We are delighted to welcome a new financial sponsor that has enabled us to establish a new fund to provide free refracted spectacles to children with myopia.  Our partnership with MSO, ISEC and Dept. of Ophthalmology in HUKM will allow us to refer children with eye disorders, other than myopia, for further examination and treatment.  For 2024, we look forward to extend our GoS project out of greater Kuala Lumpur to Klang, Ipoh and Penang.  For the GoS project, we are delighted to have the participation of enthusiastic and caring university students in the form of the Asian Medical Students Association (AMSA) club members from International Medical University and students from Leo Club of Ave Marie Convent, Ipoh.  This gives us the opportunity to nurture humanitarian values among future leaders for the country.

At the start of 2024, we also look forward to the launch of our Oral Health (OH) project; a project we have been working hard on for the last two and a half years. In this project, we will sign Letters of Intent (LOI) with the Faculty of Dentistry of UKM as well as UiTM for us to send children to them for dental screening and treatment. In addition, oral health education will be an integral part of this project. Again, our focus is on children in needy communities, starting with the Klang Valley and later expanding to other states in the country. We are looking for new partners in this project especially manufacturers of toothbrushes and toothpaste as well as potential financial sponsors to make this project more impactful and sustainable.

For 2024, we also have a new look website with GMH Consultancy as a partner for maintenance and updates.  We continue to welcome new members who share our values and new sponsors and partners who are looking for opportunities to contribute to the betterment of society.

Finally, we look forward to 2024 with great enthusiasm and excitement, especially with two big projects to benefit children in needy communities in various parts of the country.

Happy New Year to all towards a happy and better Malaysia and the rest of the world.
